If you are female and wanting to take control of your health and wellbeing, or are on a cancer pathway, then you have come to the right place – I am so glad that you are here.
I’m Sarah, the founder of Mighty Women Wellbeing, and I would love to get to know you better. The best way to do this is to book a complimentary discovery call with me where we can spend about 15-20 minutes talking about what’s going on for you right now and how we can best work together. On this page you can find out a bit more about me, and why I believe so strongly in the value of nutrition and health coaching for everyone.
A few key things to know about me:
I am a qualified Nutrition and Health Coach, and a full member of the UKIHCA (UK & International Health Coaches Association). Why is this important? You can be assured that I have trained to the highest standards of both nutrition and coaching knowledge, as certified by UKIHCA, with a commitment to continued professional development and bound by a strong code of ethics.
I’m a healthy living geek but not a perfectionist My approach to healthy living is one that is based on science, not fads or trends, but also one based in reality. No judgement here - I will meet you where you are at and work with you to create sustainable change that still lets you enjoy the things you love.
I’m a firm believer that physical and mental health are intrinsically linked (and yes, there is science to prove this too). Which is why we take a holistic approach looking at everything from nutritional intake to gut health, brain health, sleep, stress, movement and mindset.
I have been on my own cancer journey which has given me personal insight into the power of diet and lifestyle for health outcomes, but each experience is as unique as you are. That’s why we take a personalised approach for everyone. I work in support of any existing medical treatment you may have, not instead of. We can help to give you control over your health outcomes and to minimise side effects of any medication, whilst also improving your quality of life.
What is nutrition and health coaching?
I work together in partnership with you to help define what it is you want to achieve, identify what issues or obstacles you are facing now, discuss any nutritional or lifestyle knowledge that might help inform options to take, and then produce a plan with your first goals towards your overall outcomes. I will then support you throughout your journey to achieving these outcomes, however you will own that achievement and feel empowered to sustain any changes you make.
Unlike some other forms of coaching, such as executive coaching, nutrition and health coaching involves information sharing and education around relevant areas of nutrition and lifestyle that you are interested in (in this respect more like mentoring), and that we agree would be beneficial to you and your personal goals.
I often hear clients say they need accountability, and that is definitely something that a coach can provide. Lasting change however will come when you start to feel that accountability to yourself.
It is important to also state that I work within a very clear scope of ethical practice. I am not medically qualified and as such I do not diagnose any health conditions, request or interpret tests, advise for or against medical treatment nor recommend specific supplements.
Why do I only work with women?
This is largely personal choice, but also a professional one. Female physiology is quite different to men, so by focusing on just one gender I can build a deeper knowledge and understanding, particularly of issues such as perimenopause and menopause.
Why also specialise in supporting women who are on a cancer journey or are interested in risk reduction?
During my own cancer journey I gained awareness of the significant impact of taking control of our own health. This does not mean moving away from conventional medicine and seeking alternative therapies – what it does mean is not just expecting the medical treatment alone to be enough. By being pro-active and working with me, you can see improved health outcomes (including reduced risk of recurrence if your cancer has or can be cured), reduced side effects of medication, positive emotional wellbeing and increased resilience. Even the act of taking control can give your mental health a boost and help to reduce stress. If you have only just received your diagnosis, I can support you through the initial shock and help guide you through a pre-habilitation period to get your body and mind 'match fit' for your treatment.
A recent research paper 'The case for integration of health coaching within integrative oncology' (Daniel, Bach and Natrins 2025) stated that ‘systemic reviews indicate that health coaching can reduce anxiety and depression in cancer patients, conditions linked with increased recurrence and mortality. Consequently, health coaching holds potential not only to improve quality of life but also to influence cancer morbidity and mortality’. The World Cancer Research Fund lists a number of scientifically-based recommendations for preventing cancer (or limiting a recurrence) which can be found here, yet sometimes such changes can feel unmanageable or overwhelming. Together we can find the path that is right for you, at your own pace, with compassion and empathy throughout.
What does ‘healthy’ actually mean?
In our culture, there are varying levels of understanding – and opinion - around what ‘healthy’ means, and it can be unique to each individual. For some it is weight management, avoidance of regular minor illness or prevention of more serious degenerative conditions. For others it is about feeling energetic, strong mental wellbeing or resilience, and staying physically active and mobile long into our later years in life. Our bodies and minds are wonderful yet complex systems, but it can often be some simple adjustments to our lifestyles which allow us to feel Mighty again.
The good news is that often when we start to focus on one area, it naturally has a positive effect on other aspects of our health. The interwoven threads that run through all of it is diet quality and nutritional intake, gut and brain health, stress, movement and sleep. Often we know what we should be doing, but don’t always know how to get there. Whatever your health goals, we can empower you to be the strongest version of yourself yet. The real benefit of coaching is to help you identify any blockers or obstacles you might experience in making the changes you want to make, and working with you to make great new habits and leave behind any unhelpful ones.
Cutting through the nutrition noise
There is an overwhelming amount of misinformation out there, often trying to sell a product such as a supplement or to gain followers, leading to a variety of fads or trends – most of which are not based in any kind of reliable science. The science of nutrition and health is ever evolving, and it can be hard to stay up to date with the latest research and particularly in sorting the distorted headline from the science-based evidence. I strive to do this, using the most reliable sources I can find, so that all I share with my clients is the science. You can have a look through some of my favourite sources here.
